- Important safety noteA bike fit is not medical treatment — for persistent pain, also see a physiotherapist or doctor
- RequiredBring your own bike if you can — clean and mechanically sound
- RequiredBring your cycling shoes, pedals, bib shorts and a fitted jersey
- Strongly recommendedBring any saddle, stem or insole you are considering changing to
- Strongly recommendedNo hard session immediately beforehand
- OptionalBring a snack and a drink — the session lasts about 2.5 hours
- Food
- Eat normally beforehand — the session is long, so bring a snack and a drink.
- Hydration
- Arrive well hydrated and bring a full bottle.
- Exercise
- Avoid a hard session immediately beforehand — you will be riding on and off for over two hours and need fresh legs to hold a natural position.
- Caffeine / stimulants
- Normal routine.
- Alcohol
- Avoid alcohol the night before.
- Medication
- Take your prescribed medication as normal. Tell the test leader what you have taken and when, as some medication (for example beta-blockers, asthma inhalers, antihistamines) changes heart rate or breathing and must be recorded with your results. Do not change or stop medication for a test.
- Clothing
- Your usual bib shorts and a fitted jersey or tight top, so we can see your hips, knees and back clearly on camera.
- Arrival
- Arrive 10 minutes early with your bike clean and mechanically sound. If it needs a service, do that before the fit — a worn chain or a seized seatpost will cut the session short.
- Other
- Come with your history: where you get discomfort, how long your typical rides are, what you are training for and any past injuries or surgery. Cancellation and rescheduling: cancel free of charge with more than 72 hours' notice (full refund). Reschedule free of charge with more than 48 hours' notice. Inside 48 hours the appointment is treated as a late cancellation and the fee is not refundable, because the lab slot, technician and consumables are reserved for you.
What to bring: Ideally bring your own bike — we mount it on our calibrated direct-drive trainer so the results match the position you actually ride in. If you cannot transport your bike, we have a fully calibrated lab bike; in that case just bring your cycling shoes and pedals, and tell us your usual saddle height if you know it. Bring your cycling shoes and pedals, your usual bib shorts and a fitted jersey, your saddle and any spare saddles, stems or insoles you are considering, your heart-rate monitor, a drinks bottle and a towel. If you have a second bike (for example TT or gravel) tell us in advance.
